Seventy-one athletes. Ninety gold medals. One-hundred-and-nine years.

This is New Zealand's proud Olympic history, and nowhere is it better represented than in the shiny little discs our sporting best have brought home from 18 golden games since 1912.

Each gold medal had its moment in the spotlight, proudly held before cameras and crowds - some happy just to look, others needing to touch - before, in most cases, largely disappearing from public view.

Where are they now? Cherie Howie goes on a treasure hunt for our gold of Olympics past.
