Sharon Wilkie enhanced Hawkes Bay's reputation as the leading province in women's cue sports when she won the New Zealand Open snooker title at Tokoroa.
The seven-time Hawkes Bay champion beat New Zealand team-mate Temple Geayley, of Auckland, 3-2 in the final.
Wilkie, of the Heretaunga club, rated the victory as the "best achievement" in her 10-year playing career.
Hawkes Bay now boast the New Zealand Open snooker champion, the national women's billiards champion in Napier Cosmopolitan Club's Ramona Belmont, and four members of the Kiwi women's snooker team in Wilkie, Belmont, Cara Baillie (Napier RSA) and Marion Hay (National Service Club).
