Canterbury's Rachel Smith has made the middle-distance final of the world orienteering championships in Vasteras, Sweden.
Smith finished 12th in the C heat qualifying round yesterday to take her place in Saturday's final.
Claire Paterson, of Manawatu, finished 23rd in the B heat and missed out. Only the top 17 in each heat advance to the A final. She will compete in the women's B final.
Rob Jessop (Auckland), Greg Barbour (Taranaki) and Michal Glowacki (North Shore) will contest the men's B final.
