Sydney youngster Nathan Smith was the toast of Tasmania, but his home state stole overall honours in round three of the national surf league at Torquay Beach in Victoria yesterday.
Smith, a 20-year-old from Cronulla, relished the cold conditions and rough seas while competing for his adopted state and upstaged the big names, including Ky Hurst and Zane Holmes, to win the men's ironman race.
