New Zealand went one goal worse than a week ago when they lost 0-6 to the United States in the women's soccer international at Cincinnati, Ohio this morning (NZ time).
The United States won the first match 5-0 at Portland, Oregan last week and their easy 2-0 series win reflects the relative standing of the two teams.
International appearances are rare for the New Zealand side and they were always using the short tour to measure themselves against the Olympic champions.
The scores were locked for the opening 25 minutes today before star player Mia Hamm opened the home side's account with her 157th international goal, followed a minute later by Kristine Lilly.
As was the case last week, the US took full control after halftime, scoring through Aly Wagner and Julie Fowdy before Cindy Parlow contributed a late double.
A crowd of 18,806 was bigger than any the Americans had played in front of in 28 games this year, including at the Athens Olympics.
