Fake news has hit the New Zealand sports landscape, with an incorrect report announcing New Zealand Football's CEO Andy Martin's departure.
Earlier this afternoon the NZF website announced that CEO Andy Martin had resigned - but it appears that the website had been hacked.
The article said that Martin was moving on, and there would be no further comment.
But an NZF spokesman has confirmed that there is "no truth to the report at all."
Martin has been in the role since late 2014.
He has endured a rocky road at times – especially over the eligibility scandal in 2015, which saw the New Zealand team disqualified from the Olympic qualifying campaign and the fiasco over Alex Jones' registration for the Phoenix, which cost the English player a chance to turn out for the Wellington team.
