A 7-year-old boy is lucky to be alive after he was thrown out a door of his go-kart and into a crowd of spectators after spinning out of control during a race.
Footage shows the driver losing control of the vehicle, before spinning around and crashing through four safety barriers while spectators dived for cover.
One onlooker can be heard shouting: "Oh my god, oh my god!" as others rush over to check on the young boy.
According to a witness, "there were a couple of people that got hit" in the crowd.
The driver was rushed to hospital where it was revealed he suffered a broken pelvis and tailbone. The incident happened on Saturday, December 2, in New York.
Organisers dub the event as the US northeast's "premier indoor kart race known" and as "the most intense oval racing imaginable".
