Northcote 33 Silverdale 27
Northcote have safely locked away the Les Pearce Memorial Shield for the next nine months, but not before a titanic clash with Silverdale.
The visitors led 24-20 at halftime via a double to Hamish Pomare, but the control of the Northcote five-eighths Jack Bergin, who was adjudged player of the day, and No 12 Patrick Hellesoe, was telling. Loose forward and North Harbour rep Murphy Taramai was again to the fore. Both packs ripped into their work and there was plenty of positive rugby on show.
East Coast Bays' pack laid the platform for a stirring comeback from 14-0 down to defeat North Shore 37-19. Poverty Bay and North Harbour prop Jody Allen scored a double, and was ably supported by the likes of Tua Saseve, Louis Noel, Lewis Gjaltema, Judah Moala-Liava'a and Harrison Groundwater, who slotted five goals. Ben Stewart scored twice for Shore. Bays stay in touch with the top four in a very even competition.
Takapuna, with the prolific Jon Elrick contributing 17 points, edged Kumeu, who have been competitive all year, 27-25.
Marist won their third game of the season, 34-26 over Glenfield in a physical clash, and moved up to eighth on the table. Evander Semau scored a double, while 18-year-old Cam Hey gave a player of the day display. Robbie McIntosh added a try among his 14 points.
Massey beat Mahurangi by default.

College Rifles toasted veteran loose forward Jeremy Innes' 100th premier game for the club in style by wearing down Manukau Rovers to win 36-0.
In doing so, they racked up another successful defence of the Sir Fred Allen Memorial Challenge Cup and moved back into the semifinal placings with four rounds to play.
Manukau started with physicality and pace but could not reap any rewards, even though left wing Bobby Motuliki and Blues fullback Melani Nanai were handfuls and Calvary Fonoti did a lot of kicking for position. It did not help that second five Sanila Tagi was binned for a high tackle.
Good inter-passing by the Rifles forwards sent in centre Loketi Manu for the first of his brace. Halfback Ash Tuia latched onto a chip and regather to score near the posts for a 12-0 halftime lead.
Rifles upped the ante in the second spell, hooker Ash Bell ploughing over from a lineout drive and then second five Tumua Manu scored the first of his double from a crosskick. He added another from a chargedown, before his namesake (though no relation) Loketi Manu put on a fend for his second to close out the scoring.
Eden announced themselves as genuine semifinal contenders by dispatching Pakuranga 51-12. Doubles to Brody Lam and Nicolas Costa were augmented by nine goals for 21 points by first five Rodrigo Costa. Sam Shearer scored a second half double for Pakuranga.
Suburbs came home with a wet sail to blow away Ponsonby 36-0, Leif Schwencke in hat-trick mode. Daniel Bowden made his comeback from the TV screens to the field for Ponies. University, for the second time in 2017, put 50+ points past Grammar TEC, Henry Saker and Kava Fuavao scoring doubles, while Brenton Helleur added 18 points, after they led 27-21 at the break.
In the Portola Trophy, a 26-point haul by Jeremiah Latana, which featured a hat-trick, helped Papatoetoe to a 31-21 win over Otahuhu, while a Bjorn Afamasaga hat-trick was not quite enough for Waitakere City, who fell 31-29 to Mt Wellington, who were missing Latiume Fosita to the Ikale Tahi. East Tamaki edged Marist 33-29. - Campbell Burnes

Ardmore-Marist 26 Te Kauwhata 17
Bombay 85 Papakura 13
Patumahoe 24 Karaka 14
Pukekohe 28 Waiuku 7
Patumahoe are not far from sealing a home semifinal after a tight 24-14 away win over Karaka.
In a clash that welcomed the Toyota Grassroots Rugby cameras, Patumahoe scored three tries to one and are solid in second position, seven points clear of Karaka.
Rep players Jimmy Tupou and Joe Royal were prominent, along with Craig Jones, captain Sifa Pole, Riley Hohepa and Sam Furniss, the latter who scored a try.
Pukekohe kept alive their slim semifinal chances with a 28-7 win over Waiuku, after leading 28-0 at the break. Joe Reynolds scored 18 points.
Onewhero defeated Manurewa 20-15 in a frustrating game that saw both sides officially eliminated from semifinal contention, though Onewhero did leapfrog their opponents on the points table.
Ardmore-Marist beat Te Kauwhata 26-17 for the bonus point victory, but had to work overtime to take the points. Viliame Rarasea and Joe Ikenasio played half a game each on their return from injury.
Ardmore Marist face Karaka in a battle between third and fourth that will have a large bearing on who faces who in the semifinals.
Bombay racked up 13 tries in an 85-13 demolition of Papakura to stay atop the standings and retain the Counties Power Cup. The leaders took the opportunity to experiment in their backline and ran in doubles via Liam Daniela, Jordan Goldsmith, Tulolo Tulolo and Reuben Unga, while Ki Anufe kicked nine conversions.
