USA Basketball has lost another one of its stars for Rio 2016, with Russell Westbrook dropping out of the team, while, on a brighter note, DeMarcus Cousins has reportedly landed a spot in the squad.

Russell Westbrook has joined a growing list of NBA players who, for one reason or another, have decided against playing for USA Basketball this summer at the Rio Olympics. The Oklahoma City Thunder announced Westbrook's decision via official release.

"After speaking with my family, I have decided to not participate in this year's Olympics," Westbrook said in a statement. "This was not an easy decision, as representing my country at the World Championships in 2010 and the Olympics in 2012 were career highlights for me. I look forward to future opportunities as a member of USA Basketball."

Stephen Curry, James Harden, Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin, John Wall and Chris Paul are others in the league who have made similar declarations.
