Maxwell's stunning grab showcased stunning balance, athleticism and footwork to claim the wicket of England's Liam Plunkett, in what some pundits are rating as one of the best catches in cricket history.
The catch capped off a sensational all-round performance by Maxwell, who hit a blistering 85 to rescue Australia's flagging innings before contributing in big moments both with the ball and in the field.
While his innings was exceptional, the all-rounder had two catches that were even more breathtaking. To remove Eoin Morgan, Maxwell took a brilliant one-handed reflex catch at gully with the ball seemingly on an unstoppable path to the boundary.
However, his catch to dismiss Plunkett was even better, leaping high to catch a ball which was destined for six, before flinging it in the air with one hand while falling over the rope and recovering his balance and footwork in time to claim a remarkable catch.
