A legacy is built over time, not a season, which is why Warriors fans need to remain patient.
The team are making progress but, despite their improvement, are still susceptible to a loss like the one against the Rabbitohs in Perth.
Unfortunately, critics still expect the Warriors to fail. If they wait long enough, they will witness a loss, bringing them satisfaction, but it will not be failure.
Like the great teams in the NRL, losing is just a reminder to keep standards high.
An article this week described the Warriors as a team, 'like no other that can thrill one week, then be so bitterly disappointing the next'.
I view this person's opinion as completely blind to the reconstruction undertaken by coach Andrew McFadden. The author of that article is waiting for them to fail when he can then proclaim his knowledge and expertise.
I understand it's an opinion and his self-fulfilling prophecy will become true eventually, but it's a really short-sighted open-ended statement. It looks at the past more than viewing what has transpired and where the team are moving towards.
We all have expectations, some higher and more realistic than others. Knowledge is required when judging and then balancing that with fact and experience is where some people fall short.
The Warriors are improving.
All I have ever wanted to see is the ability to fight and compete week after week. It's all fans have ever wanted to see. They have only ever wanted a team to be proud of. Winning is a bonus at this stage. As long as I know the team will play this way every week, I'll be satisfied. The players must go through the process of competing consistently- winning will come in due course.
Winning consistently is a result of performing methodically at a high intensity and to minimum standards.
A win or loss is only a result. Don't focus on an outcome. Focus on how you will achieve it.
The Warriors are delivering that type of performance on a more regular basis since the change of coach earlier this season. As a fan, don't expect anything more. You'll only become frustrated and disappointed.
