LISBON, Portugal (AP) Sporting Lisbon and Benfica both won Sunday to move past FC Porto and into the joint lead of the Portuguese league.
Sporting thrashed 10-man Pacos Ferreira 4-0, while Lima scored two goals after setting up Benfica's opener in its 3-1 victory at 10-man Rio Ave.
The pacesetters climbed two points ahead of Porto after the defending champions saw their 53-game unbeaten streak in league play end Saturday.
William Carvalho headed Sporting ahead in the 15th.
Montero scored in the 51st before adding a penalty in the 72nd after Filipe Anunciacao was dismissed. Andre Martins netted in the 89th.
Benfica's Lima set up Rodrigo Moreno in the 38th.
After Rio Ave leveled, Lima scored a free kick in the 63rd. Rio Ave's Alhassan Wakaso was dismissed in the 68th and Lima hit again in the 78th.
