DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) South Africa captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first against Pakistan in the second and final Twenty20 on Friday.
The Proteas won the first by a crushing nine wickets on Wednesday.
Allrounder JP Duminy flew back home to rest before facing Pakistan at home in a short series starting next week, and was replaced by Twenty20 specialist batsman Henry Davids.
Pakistan beefed up its struggling batting lineup and replaced left-arm spinner Abdul Rehman with left-handed opening batsman Nasir Jamshed.
South Africa restricted Pakistan to just 98-9 in the first match with Umar Akmal scoring half of those runs.
South Africa could jump to No. 2 in the world Twenty20 rankings behind Sri Lanka if it whitewashes Pakistan 2-0.
