Sonny Bill Williams may be a surprise starter for Canterbury against Bay of Plenty on Friday night.
Now that he's put skiing adventures and his injured hamstring behind him, it may prove easier to give Williams a spot in the run on fifteen, rather than off the bench.
Canterbury assistant coach Tabai Matson says it makes sense.
He says when a player is returning from injury you can manage their minutes much easier when they start.
Matson says he got All Blacks assistant coach Wayne Smith to scrutinise every aspect of Sonny Bill's return for a club side on the weekend.
