New Zealand's Hannah Newbould produced a top-10 finish in yesterday's final of the women's 3000m at the world junior athletic championships in Moncton, Canada.
Newbould, from Christchurch, clocked 9m 15.68s as she finished sixth in a field of 22, surpassing her previous best of 9m 24.28s set in January.
Laura Nagel, from Hawke's Bay, also posted a personal best of 9m 25.91s as she finished 16th in the first final of the championships.
Kenya's Mercy Cherono won her second consecutive world junior title 3000m title in 8m 55.07s to take a sprint finish over Emebet Anteneh, of Ethiopia, and Layes Abdullayeva, of Azerbaijan.
