Former All Black and Rugby legend Pat Walsh has died overnight aged 71 years after a long illness.
Walsh became the second youngest player to pull on the black jersey when he made his debut against the Wallabies in 1955.
He went on to play 27 matches for the All Blacks - his last in 1963.
Walsh was adept in four positions, playing at fullback, wing, centre and second-five during his career.
Sir Wilson Whineray has led tributes for the former All Black, saying Walsh was far more than just a rugby player.
Sir Wilson said Walsh loved company and the buzz he got from being in a scene where people enjoyed themselves, becoming a highly-regarded and much enjoyed MC.
He will be remembered for his contributions to all forms of rugby as a former Counties coach and All Blacks selector.
