England announced their squad for the FIFA World Cup today and it has caused a predictable backlash from English fans, but some confused fans were furious about the exclusion of New Zealand's Chris Wood.
England manager Gareth Southgate revealed his 23-man squad which included many young inexperienced players.
Many praised Southgate's choices but some were outraged that players like Jonjo Shelvey, Ryan Bertand and Jack Wilshere were left out of the squad.
Few fans were even angry about the exclusion of All Whites and Burnley striker Wood.
Of course, Wood is a New Zealander and vice-captain of the All Whites, and has earned 56 caps for his country.
But the fact that Wood's name is even brought up in the England squad debate is in itself a testament to the Kiwi striker's impressive season with Burnley.
Wood scored 10 goals in 20 starts for the Clarets, helping them to a historic seventh placed finish.
Unfortunately for those outraged fans, Wood won't be doing a Brad Shields anytime soon.
