Jason Death was a lonely figure in the stands when he took a look at Ericsson Stadium yesterday after hopping off the plane from Australia. It is not something the new Warrior hooker/lock wants to do next year -- he would rather be on the field in front of full stands. Death came to the rebuilding Auckland club because of his regard for new coach Mark Graham and brings a wealth of first-grade experience from Canberra and the Cowboys. It may be that the difference in attitude he found between the consistent Raiders and the North Queensland expansion outfit gives a pointer to what has gone wrong at Ericsson. "At Canberra we always expected to be in the semis, we just believed we'd always make it. The Cowboys didn't have that self-belief."
