On 58, Dinesh Chandimal padded up to left arm spinner Mitchell Santner and was given out lbw by umpire Richard Kettleborough. The batsman sought a referral, which backed the onfield call. Win for New Zealand.
On 6, lefthander Kithuruwan Vithanage stretched out and padded away a ball from Santner. New Zealand referred it and the replay suggested it was bouncing over the stumps. Win for Sri Lanka.
On 1, Milinda Siriwardana was given out lbw to a full toss from left armer Neil Wagner bowling from wide around the wicket by umpire Nigel Llong. Siriwardana reviewed the decision, which showed the ball running across the face of the stumps narrowly missing the off stump. Win for Sri Lanka.
Vithangage again, on 21, was given not out to a full length ball from Wagner, who insistently demanded a DRS. He got his request, which immediately showed the ball hitting Vithanage's bat first. Win for Sri Lanka.
Finally, third time lucky, Vithanage was judged lbw to Tim Southee on 38. He tried a review, which showed him out on an umpires' call the ball heading for the top of the middle stump. Win for New Zealand.
