A concert this weekend will allow people to enjoy a blend of voices and instruments as the Rotorua District Choir and Rotorua Symphonic Band combine.
The two groups present Last Night at the Proms on Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 2.30pm, at the Rotorua Girls' High School Performing Arts Centre.
Choir conductor Evelyn Falconer says The Proms is a British event which happens every year at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
It involves a series of concerts, with a few standard songs which are always done on the last night, such as Rule Britannia.
It is the first time the Rotorua District Choir and Rotorua Symphonic Band have combined.
"We just looked at each other and went, "we should do something together one day', and this is what we came up with."
Evelyn says they have been rehearsing individually for several months, and over the last couple of weeks have been putting it together and doing combined practices.
"It's coming together and looking good."
She says she is looking forward to the fun of the concert and wants the audience to have fun too.
The concert will also feature a West End Story medley, which she says a lot of people like, and there will be a Sound of Music sing-along too.
"We want people to join in singing. Bring your voices along."
Tickets cost $15 for adults and school-aged children are free. There will be door sales and there are tickets available at McLeods Booksellers.
