Music month has seen a host of talent performing to the enthusiastic support of locals, according to local organiser, Karin Vincent.
The shows are on at Prince's Gate where the intimate venue has given performers the chance to talk about themselves as well as perform.
"They have had the chance to engage with the audience and reflect on their inspiration for their songs. The venue is fantastic. Very relaxed and cosy by the fire while Prince's Gate staff make sure all the guests are seen to. A huge success," said Mrs Vincent.
Another strong line-up of talented locals is being showcased tonight.
One of the performers is 15-year-old Azrael Spiryt who is a singer/songwriter with a passion for people and performance.
A self-taught pianist, her voice carries a unique blend of husky tones and strength which belies her age.
Lee McKenzie is also taking the stage. He has carefully selected a handful of his own original pieces for the acoustic set.
"My creations are the product of a rich childhood imagination that's developed over time to become musically channelled creativity," he said.
Lloyd C Akroyd is a singer/songwriter from Rotorua whose music is a mix of blues/rock/soul/folk. His smouldering vocals are about love, loss, heartbreak and hope, and he is currently working towards his first album.
Another performer planning to release an original album is Canadian Curtis Ehresman. He came to New Zealand after meeting his Kiwi girlfriend and now lives here, writing and performing his own original acoustic music.
"This is a great opportunity to get to know our local musicians, especially if the audience are also keen to hear what the inspiration is for their work," said Mrs Vincent.
