Colliers International has today opened a new franchise office in Rotorua.
The new office is a joint venture with Colliers' Tauranga franchise and is being headed up by leading Rotorua broker, Mark Rendell.
Mr Rendell has been a Bayleys commercial property broker in Rotorua for several years.
"I'm very excited about developing this business with Colliers International. With my local knowledge and experience alongside Colliers' extensive and specialised national networks, I think we will take Rotorua's commercial property market activity to a new level."
Simon Clark, Colliers managing director in Tauranga, said both the Rotorua office and Mr Rendell were significant additions to the company.
"Rotorua represents part of a strategic triangle of growth and business opportunities ranging north to Hamilton and east to Tauranga that we have been keen to establish a real presence in. We are thrilled to be achieving that with someone of Mark's calibre and standing in the industry."
Rotorua will be Colliers International's 20th office throughout New Zealand, and chief executive Mark Synnott said the decision to launch the new franchise was driven by the need to address what they saw as a clear gap in the market.
"We are currently experiencing an extremely buoyant market and having an immediate foothold in Rotorua allows us to realise the demand for our services there, as well as establishing the franchise as a strategic location for Colliers going forward."
Mr Rendell has twice won medals for road cycling at the Commonwealth Games, including gold at the 1994 games in British Columbia, Canada.
Real Estate Institute of New Zealand spokeswoman Ann Crossley said she wished Colliers well with its Rotorua operation.
