Tell us a bit about yourself:
I grew up at Lake Rotoma. I had the best childhood, where I spent it down at the lake or riding motorbikes, or making huts in the bush. Growing up I always knew that I wanted to help people, so I either wanted to be a nurse or a teacher. It turns out I don't like the sight of blood so I decided to become a teacher.
Why did you begin your Facebook page/website/app FashionDecider?
It just started off as an idea because I saw a need. I don't know how many countless hours I have stood in front of the mirror wondering what outfit looks best and what I should wear. As I have gotten older I ammore confident in how I look but there are still days or special occasions where I need a second opinion. Before Fashion Decider my husband used to get sick of me asking which outfit he thought looked better. Half the time he would give me his opinion without even really looking at what I was wearing. Often we feel we need another opinion outside of our significant others. I amsure so many other people can relate to this which is why I created Fashion Decider. Fashion Decider is perfect for the indecisive dresser, she/he can have second opinions instantly and getting the feedback from people who have voted and commented is fun, useful and addictive. I have loved how people from all over the world have contacted me, telling me what a great idea this is. They have also provided feedback and advice on how to make Fashion Decider even better, so it is constantly evolving. When I first started people could only upload photos that everyone could see. After feedback and recommendation there is now a private group feature.
What is it about fashion that you love?
I read this quote the other day which I reposted on my Facebook page that says 'Never underestimate the power of a good outfit on a bad day'. If we change the way we dress, we can change the way we feel. Clothes have the ability to make you feel beautiful, powerful, unstoppable.
Who is your fashion inspiration/where does your fashion inspiration come from?
I just know what I like and it depends on what kind of mood I'm in as to what kind of look I go for. To be honest though because I work full time and I'm a mum, it means there aren't many times where I get the chance to dress up. One of the best parts about getting home from work each day is that I get to chuck on my comfy track pants and aT-shirt!
What have been your biggest achievements?
Without question my biggest achievement is my two beautiful children, Bella, 7, and Will, 5. They make me laugh and smile, and I am truly proud of them. Bella is a natural at most things, she is creative and talented and a beautiful person both inside and out, while Will has a huge personality who is a born entertainer, and is such caring boy.
Tell us three things about yourself most people wouldn't know
I can't do my own hair or makeup! I never wear makeup and the only thing I can do with my hair is either straighten it or chuck it up in a pony tail. If I do have to go to a special occasion I always have to get my hair and makeup done professionally. I used to suffer from panic attacks when I was younger. They can be terrifying. A couple of weeks ago I went to the optometrist to get my eyes checked. The lady did all sorts of tests and one of them was something to do with tracking of my eyes. She tried to make me go cross-eyed a number of times but eventually gave up because I couldn't do it. Apparently most people can do this.
