Rotorua has joined cities around New Zealand and the world, by lighting up an iconic city structure in red, white and blue to show support for the people of Paris following the weekend's terrorist attack.
The lights, in the colours of the French flag, will go on at the Prince's Gate Archway, at Government Gardens entrance, from tonight.
Rotorua mayor Steve Chadwick expressed her sympathy for the people of France and the local French community on behalf of all Rotorua citizens.
"We join in solidarity with our own French citizens living here, and we add our voice to those denouncing terrorism and senseless acts of violence."
Red, white and blue lighting will remain on the Prince's Gate Archway until December.
