A Rotorua road was blocked as emergency services worked to cut a person out of an overturned car.
Police, ambulance and three fire service trucks were called to the scene of a single car crash on Vaughan Rd, about 50m from the old Tachikawa mill, about 8.20am today.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said one person was trapped inside the car, which had toppled onto its roof.
Fire crews worked to rescue the person and cut them out of the car using the jaws of life, he said.
It was unknown to what extent the man was injured, he said.
A Rotorua Daily Post staff member, who had been at the scene, said he arrived to see a silver or grey car lying on its roof, blocking one lane of the road.
He said police had blocked off the section of road to all traffic.
Police were investigating the cause of the crash.
In September last year a Rotorua man and his son escaped serious injury after crashing into a powerpole on Vaughan Rd, cutting power to 1700 customers.
