Rotorua's inner city is set to be scrubbed, brushed, water-blasted and polished tomorrow as building owners, business operators and staff roll up their sleeves to take part in the city's second Scrub Rotorua Day.
Inner City Focus Group spokesman and city retailer Mike Steiner is again leading the project .
"I was delighted with Scrub Rotorua Day's outstanding success last year and we thought it should become an annual event. It's a great opportunity for city business people to get out there alongside their neighbours, tidy up their patch and show real pride in our beautiful city," he said.
As revitalisation of the inner city is a key goal in the community's Rotorua 2030 vision, the Rotorua District Council is getting behind the Inner Focus Group initiative to spruce up the city.
Council staff will be offering members of the public the chance to brighten up Tutanekai St by helping replant flower boxes, and will be installing new Holmes Group-sponsored seating.
The council and Keep Rotorua Beautiful are also co-ordinating painting of a Tag Free Wall, and opening a new pop-up Ideas Shop at 1225 Tutanekai St, opposite Whitcoulls.
An all-day concert sponsored by Music Works will be taking place at the City Focus, with a mix of entertainment running from 10am to 4pm.
The concert will kick-off at 10.30am and features DJ Jay and a line-up of talented local musicians including Ellis Carrington, Sam Hema, Stella Maris and Ariana Cudby.
Local radio station MoreFM will broadcast live from the inner city during the day.
Cleaning and uniform company Alsco Rotorua is providing cleaning products at no charge.
