Rotorua's Pauleen Wilkinson spends most of her days rushed off her feet helping out in the community.
So when she was named the winner of the Rotorua Daily Post's Ultimate Weekend competition, she erupted into tears of joy.
The retiree and Red Cross volunteer has won more than $1500 worth of activities, food and beverages, hotel accommodation and a car rental in the competition, which celebrated the launch of the new 48 hours lift-out.
Ms Wilkinson said was thrilled to win a much-needed holiday, especially since hadn't had one in more than three years.
"When I found out, I was in shock, just completely stunned. It sounds a bit silly but I ending up crying," she said.
When she entered the competition she told her good friend she would share the prize with her if she won, so the first thing she did when she was declared the winner, was make a swift phonecall.
The pair later cracked open a bottle of wine to celebrate.
Ms Wilkinson said she was astounded as to how much was in the package and couldn't wait for her break.
"I'm so excited, it's going to be the most wonderful weekend and I just know I'm going to have the best night's sleep at Sudima Hotel."
For her prize Ms Wilkinson will get to drive a Rite Price Rentals car before going on a shopping spree at Mount Maunganui and going to Blokart Heaven for an hour of blokart sailing and drift karting.
Then she'll head to Skyline Rotorua to enjoy a Volcanic Hills wine tour, complete with taste testing and a tasty platter.
She'll have dinner at Eat Streat's Brew Bar and a relaxing night at Sudima Hotel, before a buffet breakfast at the hotel and getting pampered at the Polynesian Spa the following morning. To finish off her holiday, she'll enjoy an Off Road New Zealand's Drivers Obsession Package.
Ms Wilkinson said she was amazed by the generosity of all the businesses that contributed to the package and felt blessed to have won.
"I'm very appreciative of the generosity of all the businesses who have participated in the Rotorua Daily Post's celebration of their 48 hour publication," she said. "I'm so grateful."
Ms Wilkinson spends most of her week volunteering for Red Cross, Senior Net and many other local community organisations, but when she has a free moment, she never misses the chance to enter a competition.
She's won several and gave some words of advice for others.
"You've got to be in it to win it," she said.
But Ms Wilkinson, who has Irish heritage, added the wins could just be "the luck of the Irish".
