Award winning photographer Mead Norton is holding a workshop in Rotorua in September to share his knowledge and skills in capturing a powerful image.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to capture a range of images all to the amazing setting of Rotorua's steamy geothermal paradise, beautiful lakes and lush forests.
Mr Norton said Rotorua provided a fantastic backdrop to learn how to work with your environment.
"We have the mystique and intrigue of the geothermal activity, the tranquil lakes and moody forests
"It is the perfect playground to teach keen photographers how to use natural light and photo composition. Rotorua is my stomping ground and I will share with attendees some of the hidden spots that are a photographers dream," he said.
Mr Norton said the idea to hold these workshops had been brewing for some time because he had always wanted to share his passion for photography from a young age.
"I have always wanted to share my passion and knowledge for photography. But I needed to get the experience out in the world and the recognition before I could make this happen."
Mr Norton has been published worldwide, received international acclaim and won awards.
Mr Norton also has the distinction of being one of the best technically trained photographer in New Zealand with a Master's of Science in Photography at the world renowned Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California.
"This workshop will help photography enthusiasts improve their skills and caters for a range of experience levels. It is limited to 12 guests ensuring ample opportunity for one-on-one interaction and instruction.
"Attendees will come away with a greater understanding of their camera settings and functions and how to use them to maximise their shots," he said.
Also covered throughout the course of the weekend will be composition of images, how to "pick the moment in the scene", natural lighting and digital processing.
Participants will have five of their images critiqued by Norton to learn how they could improve their shots.
This workshop is only a start for Mr Norton and he is planning to take workshops around the globe.
The Rotorua workshop is on September 5 to 7 and attendees get to stay at the luxurious Peppers on the Point boutique hotel.
