A 77-year-old man has appeared in the Rotorua District Court on a firearms charge.
Police allege Max Winders of Mamaku left a loaded firearm in circumstances as to endanger the life of others, namely under a bed with a bullet in its chamber. The charge relates to the period from March 28 to April 4 and have been laid under section 52.2 of the Arms Act.
Winders, who is represented by Rotorua lawyer Murray McKechnie, is due back in court for a status hearing on July 23. He denies the charge.
