Members of the public have an opportunity to provide input into Rotorua International Airport's business strategy via a public meeting at the Rotorua Convention Centre this month.
The Rotorua International Airport is developing a business strategy setting the airport's direction for the next five years.
Airport chief executive officer Alastair Rhodes will present an overview of the key aspects of the strategy, which is focused on creating growth at the airport and making an even greater contribution to Rotorua and the wider Bay of Plenty.
The public meeting will be on Wednesday, June 19.
"Since I started in my role as CEO at the end of April, my key priority has been the development of the airport's business plan, defining the objectives we seek to achieve in the next 12 months through to the next five years, and developing an implementation plan to ensure that we achieve these," Mr Rhodes said.
"For the airport to grow and succeed, it's critical that we have the support of Rotorua and wider Bay of Plenty communities, not only for the benefit of the tourism industry and the airport, but also for the wider community and the local economy.
"As such, we are keen to get input and feedback from members of the public and wider airport users as we progress the strategy to its final stages."
Mr Rhodes expects to have a draft business plan for presentation to the airport board at the end of June, with a final strategy in place in August.
Mr Rhodes said he had been working closely with a range of different stakeholders in relation to the development of the strategy - and also to identify and maximise the key opportunities for growth for Rotorua and the wider Bay of Plenty region.
"This has included working with Destination Rotorua and Grow Rotorua, and both organisations will provide a short presentation at the public meeting on June 19.
The public meeting will be from 6pm till 7pm at the Rotorua Convention Centre. Those interested are asked to register their attendance by Tuesday, June 18 via email to talk2us@rotorua-airport.co.nz.
