A Wellington teenager was injured in a crash during a water skiing race today on Lake Rotoma, about 20km from Rotorua.
The 15-year-old girl received suspected spinal injuries in the crash just before midday, a Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter spokesman said.
Fire crews created a landing area for the helicopter to land at the lake's eastern end, where racing was being held, he said.
The girl was taken to Rotorua Hospital.
