Locals craving a night of fun, speed and dirt should head down to the annual Easter Extravaganza this weekend.
Hosted by Hickey Contractors, the Easter Extravaganza is a speedway meeting held at the Paradise Valley Speedway, attracting competitors from all over New Zealand.
The speedway classes racing this Easter are superstocks, stockcars, minisprints, modifieds, production saloons, ministocks and saloons.
Rotorua Stockcar Club secretary Sonja Hickey said the range of classes racing meant the "event suits all types of car lovers.
"This is a great option for family entertainment, which each member of the family will enjoy - it's good, cheap fun that is bound to get people excited.
"All the best cars are going to be here so it is a stockcar event that people should definitely keep on their calendars."
She said stockcars were not just for adult entertainment, "the littlies really get into it as well and love seeing the speed and crash and bash of different classes".
Mrs Hickey said, based on past popularity, the event was expected to pull 3000 to 4000 people each night.
"There is always a lot of locals who come along to the event but there is also a lot of people from out of town who come to Rotorua for Easter and see the Easter Extravaganza as a good, easy way to spend a night out."
