The New Zealand premiere tour of Mr McGee & the Biting Flea is making a stop-off in Rotorua.
Children's author Pamela Allen's stories are brought to life in the production, emerging from dozens of suitcases and crates, as three curious warehouse workers transform a storeroom into an enchanting miracle of music and play.
Capital E National Theatre for Children will present Patch Theatre Company's show Mr McGee & the Biting Flea on a national education tour after the premiere in Wellington.
The production brings six of Allen's most popular stories to sweet music-infused life.
"We are excited to bring Mr McGee & the Biting Flea to the New Zealand stage for the first time and to provide young people with the opportunity to experience such a well acclaimed international production," said Capital E's creative producer Stephen Blackburn.
Described as "a simple, elegant valentine to theatrical imagination," Mr McGee and the Biting Flea will be on at the Rotorua Civic Theatre on Friday.
The three shows are on at: 10am, 11.30am and 1pm. The production is said to be ideal for 2 to 7-year-olds. Tickets from Ticketmaster.
