A new radio station is set to launch in Rotorua.

As a result of the changing demographics of audiences in New Zealand, NZME, which publishes the Rotorua Daily Post, has taken a fresh look at its portfolio of stations within each market.

In Rotorua, this means launching a new station. From Friday, June 22, MIX will broadcast on 94.3FM, replacing Radio Hauraki.

MIX fuses classic bangers from the 70s, 80s and 90s hosted by Mel Homer.

Content director David Brice said: "MIX has been a real audience success story in other regional locations such as Northland and Nelson."".

MIX host Mel Homer started her radio career in the Bay of Plenty and is happy to be heard in the Bay again.

"MIX listeners become passionate fans of the station and it's a real 'at work' favourite with listeners," Homer said.

Radio Hauraki will continue to be available to listen to at hauraki.co.nz or via the Radio Hauraki mobile App iHeartRadio. Listeners can also stay up to date with the latest from Radio Hauraki on social media.
