Australian radio host Dave Hughes drank his own urine yesterday. Yes, you read that right.
The comedian and his Hit Network radio offsider, Kate Langbroek, were discussing a recent news story about employees at a Chinese company were allegedly forced to drink their own urine after failing to reach sales targets.
Langbroek then challenged Hughes to sample a wee bit of his own pee, but he demanded that their listeners decide whether or not he went through with it.
Before the final tally was announced, Hughes went to the bathroom and came back with a cup full of urine.
"It smells so strong, it's making Jack (panel operator) feel ill," Langbroek said. "The pungency, the odour, it's very disturbing."
Langbroek then ran through some disputable health benefits of drinking your own urine, saying it "enhances immunity, prevents allergies, promotes a healthy heart".
"I've never heard a doctor prescribe it," she added.
Hughesy and Kate's executive producer then tallied the votes from callers and announced that 90 per cent had voted in favour of Hughesy gulping his golden drink.
"The straw is in my mouth," he said. "I'm about to do it."
And without a care in the world, the comedian then sucked from the straw.
"There's no issue there, it's fine," he declared.
Langbroek joked, "It's like weak cask wine," and Hughesy replied, "It's like tea."
He ended the break by saying, "I don't have a problem with that."
So yeah, that happened.
