ANA Fowke, Godfrey Hirst's new textile designer, will present a diverse range of carpets at the show which utilise "contemporary colours and texture." Choosing a carpet is the foundation of a decorating plan, she says. "It is an opportunity to create an interior with personality and character. Carpet has ahuge impact on an interior, as floors and walls are the two largest areas of colour in a room and will determine the mood and atmosphere of an interior." Since "texture is the hottest story in interior design," textured loop carpet will feature. Its "surface interest" adds another dimension to a room. Godfrey Hirst will release the latest addition to the textured loop range, Avenue Sisal, and the Wool Plus range will also be on view. "Wool Plus is revolutionary new technology which delivers exceptional carpet performance," Ana Fowke says. The technology for this special fibre was invented in the early 90s by the Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand. "Wool Plus provides the benefits of luxury wool plus the performance quality of a wool blend. Made in New Zealand, Wool Plus gives a crisper look for each individual tuft, increased resistance to everyday wear and reduces unsightly shedding." Also featuring is Stainmaster II certified carpet, using selected DuPont residential carpet fibres to provide stain and soil resistance. Stainmaster II, Ana Fowke says, is a premium residential carpet with an elegant appearance and luxurious texture. The Godfrey Hirst Group is one of the largest carpet producers in New Zealand and Australia, with more than 130 years of experience in the manufacture of textiles. It employs about 500 people at its four New Zealand plants, in Invercargill, Napier, Christchurch and Auckland.
