Mobile services have now been restored to areas north of Auckland that were plunged into a reception black-hole by a cable fault earlier today.
A Vodafone spokeswoman said mobile services for its customers in areas including Warkworth, Leigh and Matakana were affected by an "unexpected third-party fibre cut".
The company said calling, text and data mobile services had been affected.
Vodafone said repair work was carried out by Chorus.
Services were restored shortly before 6pm today.
The spokeswoman earlier said Vodafone apologised to customers for any inconvenience.
A 2degrees spokeswoman said some of its customers were also affected, as they connected to some Vodafone cells in the area.
