A woman has been identified as the victim of an assault in Hamilton, after a large amount of human blood was discovered behind a church in the city.
The 35-year-old woman was being spoken to in relation to a serious assault, police said today.
She was identified following information from the public, after police yesterday revealed blood was found at Activate Church on Bisley Rd on Thursday.
Hamilton CIB is investigating the incident. "The investigation is in its early stages and there is no further information at this time," police said today.
Yesterday afternoon police issued a statement saying a large amount of human blood had been discovered behind the church, with officers called to the scene around 3.30pm on Thursday.
Enquiries revealed the blood had been there since at least 11am that morning. Detective Sergeant Andrew Mortimore said it appeared to be the scene of a "serious assault", and appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
