Police remain today at the scene of a fatal stabbing in Wellington.

Helen Silverwood, 55, died of her injuries on Sunday evening at her Glendale Grove house in the northern suburb of Churton Park.

Police were still at the two-storey weatherboard house today, where the curtains remain drawn.

There were bunches of flowers on the front lawn.

A security guard is at the scene but otherwise the cul-de-sac is quiet.

A 28-year-old man with name suppression appeared in court yesterday charged with murdering Mrs Silverwood.

He entered no plea and will appear again this month.
