A mental health patient who escaped from Auckland's Mason Clinic last month has been found and is back at the unit, a Waitemata District Health Board spokeswoman said today.
Kenneth Heria, 33, was located by police in Tauranga over the Easter weekend, she said.
Heria, who police had said had a violentbackground and could be dangerous, was one of three patients who fled the unit in a security lapse on March 26.
The others returned after contacting the clinic two days later.
Clinic director Sandy Simpson said Heria was located last night.
Dr Simpson said he was being assessed, although "nothing untoward" had happened to him during his time out of the clinic.
"He did not come to the attention of police because of offending," he said.
"Rather he was known to have been AWOL from here and he needed to return."
Police had been looking for Heria in Tauranga because of his "previous association" with the city.
