A person is in a serious condition after a car crashed down a bank in Windsor Park, Auckland.

Emergency services were called to the incident at 1.40pm near East Coast Rd.

The driver of the vehicle has now been extracted and is in a serious condition, police said.

One lane on East Coast Rd has been closed while emergency services are at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.
