The man found dead in an Auckland home yesterday was a 19-year-old from Whanganui.
Police have named the murder victim as Shane Paul Hawe-Wilson.
His body was found in a home in Panmure yesterday morning.
Police said the post-mortem examination has been completed and Mr Hawe-Wilson's body has been returned to his family, members of whom have travelled to Auckland from Whanganui.
Police allege Mr Hawe-Wilson was viciously attacked at the Panmure address where he died and have charged a 35 year-old Balmoral man with his murder.
The man accused of the murder appeared in Auckland District Court today where he was remanded in custody and granted interim name suppression.
He is scheduled to reappear in the Auckland High Court on July 22.
The scene examination of the Jellicoe Rd address is expected to be completed later today, police said.
