Police are hunting a group of robbers who stole a large amount of jewellery from a West Auckland store last night.
The offenders went into Michael Hill at the West City Mall in Henderson at 6pm and took off with the jewellery, leaving the scene in a car.
A staff member today told the Herald she was not allowed to talk about the robbery and could not say what value the jewellery taken amounted to.
A shopping centre spokesperson provided a statement to the Herald.
"We are aware of the robbery that took place at West City mall yesterday," he said,.
"Appropriate procedural policies were implemented to ensure the safety of our staff and our customers.
"While understandably an unsettling incident, no one was injured.
"We are unable to make any further comments while the matter is being investigated by the police."
Police found the car later but the hunt for the thieves is ongoing.
The Eagle helicopter was used to try and locate the offenders, but they are yet to be found.
