Gerard Daldry the owner of Protranz has developed a remote control system for his 30 Tonne digger to deconstruct hillside houses damaged from the 2011 Earthquakes. Usually the diggers are remote controlled onsite at a safe distance from steep banks and drop offs. But he has several deconstructions on his books that will have the digger out of site from the operator. So a site test has been carried out for the first time today having the operator control the digger from a helicopter up to 250 metres away.
