Gisborne police arrested two men after shots were fired outside a local marae early yesterday.
A police spokesman said it appeared members of one gang were having a family gathering when shots were allegedly fired by a rival gang shortly after 1 am, smashing a van window.
Police were called back to the marae three hours later when further shots were heard. They arrested two men, aged 32 and 20, who will appear in the Gisborne District Court this week.
