A Hamilton-based immigration official accused of exploiting deportees will face trial on theft charges.
Manjit Singh denies the four charges and will reappear in the Hamilton District Court on September 9.
The Crown alleges Singh stole two cars from immigrants while working for the Immigration Service.
It's alleged Singh sold the cars on the pretext that the proceeds would be used to pay for airfares of Thai immigrants arrested for overstaying.
