A dog, shot twice in the head and left to die in a pit full of dead animals, has only a 50 per cent chance of survival, the Whangarei SPCA said last night. The 9-month-old black retriever-cross was found dehydrated and distressed on Sunday.
Members of the public have offered to take the dog, but the SPCA wants to see if he survives the next few days before finding him a home.
