A senior Taupo firefighter has been dismissed following a three month inquiry into allegations of misconduct.
The firefighter, who was a permanent staff member, was suspended in February this year pending the outcome of an investigation into reports he used a fire appliance and crew for activities not related to his job.
The Fire Service is not releasing any details, but it is understood the incident was related to the eviction of a person from a rental property.
Bay of Plenty Waikato Regional Fire Service commander Bill Butzbach said the dismissal followed a ""full and fair" inquiry and no further details would be released.
New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union secretary Derek Best was not willing to discuss details of the inquiry or dismissal but said the union was looking at what options might be available to the dismissed officer.
