A nine-year-old Christchurch boy run over soon after getting off his school bus yesterday has died.
The boy got off outside his parents' Green Park home about 3.15pm yesterday and was hit by a car as he crossed the road.
Police said it appeared the car was not speeding, and the driver stopped immediately to attend to the injured boy.
Senior Sergeant Tony Ellis, of the police southern communications centre, said the boy was flown to Christchurch Hospital by the WestpacTrust rescue helicopter accompanied by his parents.
He was fighting for his life in intensive care, but died overnight.
His name has not been released.
