The group Abortion Concern says bringing an abortion pill into New Zealand will lead to more pregnancies being terminated.
US authorities have approved the sale of the pill RU-486, also called mifepristone, which is already available in much of Europe and the United Kingdom.
Abortion Concern spokeswoman Philippa Peck says she sees a lot of women who have been talked into having abortions.
She is also concerned about the affect of taking the pill after the recommended seven to nine week deadline.
The Ministry of Health is reviewing the product, and will make a decision next year.
